Coop Frick – Mall & Underground Car Park
A perforated metal ceiling – and a luminaire that did not yet exist for it
Refurbished during ongoing operations: 256 luminaires across 1'500 m², mall and underground car park.
Coop wanted to refurbish the mall and the underground car park in Frick without closing for a single day and without compromising on the architectural concept. We measured its requirements against the lighting standards, backed them up with lighting calculations and settled them directly with everyone involved at the site meetings. There was no suitable luminaire for the Durlum perforated metal ceiling – so we developed one: Loop detaches from the ceiling construction and is installed independently of it. Custom-made linear profiles followed, tracing the light lines of the concept exactly. 256 luminaires in five months, and we accompanied the installers through to the very last one – all of them ready to repair, so that a defect later on stays a spare part instead of becoming a new luminaire.
