GCK Lions Ice Rink KEK
When the ice shines in broadcast quality
65 light points instead of a sea of luminaires – the TV standard met at mounting heights that left barely any margin.
For the Küsnacht ice rink we relit both the hall and the outdoor ice field, including the columns and support structures for the open-air pitch. The brief was demanding: light of broadcast quality to the standards of the international ice hockey federation, mounted on the existing close-meshed steel girder structure and therefore at an unusually low height. We developed a project-specific mounting solution for it and reached the lighting and glare values with only 65 light points. Overall coordination between designers, installers and the other trades lay with us, we recorded the lighting measurement to the federation requirements and handed the installation over to SIA. It is controlled via common standards – league game, training and outdoor field at the push of a button, without specialist knowledge in operation.
